15 Everyday Foods That Could Heighten the Risk of Diabetes

Fruit Juices

We regularly go for a glass of fruit juice in the morning, hoping to get one of our ‘five a day’ in. We typically associate it with health because the word ‘fruit’ is in the name. Choosing the right beverages, on the other hand, can help you avoid unpleasant side effects, manage your symptoms, and maintain a healthy weight.

Fruit juices, especially those produced from whole fruits, can be high in micronutrients, notably vitamins and minerals, that are not broken down during the juicing process. Fresh fruit juice with no added sugar is considerably superior to sugary drinks such as soda.

However, keep in mind that many drinks made from concentrates include a lot of sugar, which might interfere with your blood sugar levels and increase your risk of weight gain. Choose 100% pure fruit juices that have no additional sugars. It’s also worth mentioning that most commercially available fruit juices are pasteurized, or heated to less than 100 °C (212 °F), to kill germs and extend shelf life, which may result in lower amounts of some nutrients. As a result, it is advised to prepare your own juice.
