Dried fruit

Dried fruit is high in natural sugars. Because the water in dried fruit has been removed, all of the sugar and calories have been condensed into a much smaller package.
Many fruits are infused with a sweetener (e.g., sucrose syrup) prior to drying, so while dried fruit retains the majority of the nutritional value of fresh fruit, it is also very high in calories and sugar, including both glucose and fructose.
Dried fruit is a great snack since it contains fiber and many minerals, but eat it in moderation. Just be aware of your portion control and how frequently you consume these delectable treats. One ounce of raisins has 84 calories, almost entirely from sugar. Because dried fruit is tasty and high in energy, it is easy to eat a lot of it at once, resulting in an excess of sugar and calories.
